Dr. Yinka Ayefele

Ayefele, a native of Ipoti in Ekiti State southwestern Nigeria, was born there and attended Our Saviours Anglican Primary School for his primary and secondary education. He later continued his studies at Ondo State College of Arts and Science in Ikare Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria. Before embarking on his music career, Ayefele briefly worked as a journalist and broadcaster at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria in Ibadan, where he also produced jingles and musical works on radio.

In 1997, Ayefele's life changed dramatically when he was involved in a car accident that left him with a damaged spinal cord and confined to a wheelchair. During his nine-month hospital stay, a friend, Kola Olawuyi, encouraged him to compile some songs. This suggestion led to the release of his debut album, "Bitter Experience," in 1998, which propelled him into the spotlight. This release was followed by "Sweet Experience." Ayefele has since released several other albums, including "Something Else," "Divine Intervention," and "Life After Death" as a tribute to Gbenga Adeboye, a Nigerian radio presenter, musician, and comedian.

Ayefele has received over 200 awards throughout his career, including the prestigious Member of the Order of the Niger bestowed upon him by former Nigerian President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in 2011. He is also a recipient of the Ekiti Cultural Ambassador Award and the Presenter Extraordinaire 2015 award.
